It’s the part that carries the sound out of a BTE aid down into a person’s ear canal. The curved per-bend tubing is specially designed and molded for this application. The pre-bend tubing is a critical element of a person’s hearing system. The tubing should be replaced; otherwise it gets very hard and brittle and can develop cracks, can cause feedback, become uncomfortable to wear and affects sound transmission. You can learn to do this yourself. Changing your own tubing can be quick and easy and a great way to save money if you’re currently paying for this service. All the tubes on this listing are the industry standard size. Tubing diameters are standardized according to the internal diameter. The most common tubing is size 13 and fits most BTE hearing aids regardless of the manufacturer. Size 13 tubes come in 3 different wall thickness used to identify the different tubes. Standard Wall (most commonly used size): 0.122″ or 3.09 mm outside diameter for use on BTE hearing aids for mild-to-moderate hearing loss. Medium Wall: 0.125″ or 3.17 mm O.D., for use on BTE hearing aids for mild-to moderately- severe hearing loss Thick Wall: 0.130″ or 3.3 mm O.D., for use on BTE hearing aids for moderate-to profound hearing loss Please follow these simple instructions on how to replace the tube.
