Welcome to The Speaker Port! Upgrade your vintage speaker terminals with The Speaker Port’s own custom-made banana plug conversion kit! The plates are created using 3D technology after performing precise measurements. These allow you to upgrade and modernize your vintage unit’s outdated terminals to banana plugs with uniform spacing. Our kits are guaranteed ONLY for models that are provided in this listing. This kit MAY fit other models or brands, however, we have developed, tested, and properly fitted and verified this part only on the models listed. If you choose to purchase a terminal kit for another brand or model that is not listed, we provide no guarantee or warranty that this part will fit, and you will do so at your own risk. What you receive may differ slightly than what is pictured, depending on the model chosen, terminal options for the plates, etc. The photos shown are not necessarily showing the panel for your chosen model, but to show you how they may look on a similar unit. This kit is only guaranteed to fit the following brands and models:Marantz 2226BMarantz 2238BMarantz 2252BMarantz 2285BMarantz 2330BMarantz 2385BMarantz 2500Marantz 2600Product features: Includes replacement plates and terminals for the speaker outputs on your model Allows for the use of individually terminated male banana plug tips for your speaker wires Allows for bare wire attachment (10awg max), which improves the look and wiring options You can repurpose the original hardware and either: solder the internal speaker wires directly to the back of the terminals, or use ring tip terminals using the included extra hardware. The speaker wires behind some terminal blocks are fairly tight, so the use of ring terminals are highly recommended. These are not included, but if the kit is purchased on our website, the ring terminals can be chosen as an add-on for an additional amount. NOTE: By purchasing this product, you understand that the installation of this part does require certain skills and competency using tools and a soldering iron. If you are not comfortable doing this work yourself, take it to an electronics service shop and they should be able to do the work for you. INSTALLATION NOTES:You will need some basic tools/materials, such as a Philips screwdriver, wire cutters/strippers, soldering iron/solder, etc. These items are not included.There is plenty of slack in the existing internal speaker wires to re-attach to the new plate, but still snip off the wires as close to the plate terminal as possible to make sure you” don’t cut yourself short”.Keep the wiring orientation exactly as it was with the originals. (Take pictures of the existing wires for reference before you begin.)For best connectivity, we recommend soldering the wires to the tips of the new terminals.WARNING: DO NOT overheat the back end terminals. Nothing more than a normal 40W soldering iron should be used and even so, make sure you are proficient in the right procedure for soldering wires onto terminals such as these. If the screw terminals get too hot, it could melt the plate and/or bushings of the terminals.The original panel used machine screws with an embedded threaded nut. This is not present on this new panel. We recommend the use of a slightly large self-taping screw or a normal machine screw with a nut and washer on the back side. This hardware is not included, but should be locally available in your favorite hardware/box store.DISCLAIMER: Marantz and any other vintage audio products, contain aged components and wiring. As a result, you need to take care while working on this unit. It is not uncommon for parts or wires to crack, snap, or break off while trying to manipulate any part of the unit after 40+ years of age. I’ve also developed my own line of hard-to-find, vintage part reproductions using 3D CAD design and printing technology. PricingWe are a business, and we work very hard to ensure that each unit or product we sell is ready for a new owner and able to last. Our prices will likely be a bit higher than some of what you may see from other sellers or websites. Our pricing reflects the cost of the unit, the cost of parts required, and the amount of labor required to service the unit. Typically our products also come with a warranty, and if so, it will be stated in the listing. As we price each unit, we also have to take into consideration the fees that eBay takes from each sale. As we grow, we are slowly introducing a store on our website to cut the cost of these fees.
