UNBEATABLE SALE &FREE USA SHIPPING! Another great bass from The Swami’s personal collection and believe it or not, it’s the only SB-2 I ever felt was worth hanging on to. This one just lights it up tone & playability wise and it’s hard to put down once you get going! The black finish is in fine shape with some minor dimples, a few chips but no real edge or buckle wear. It’s been taken care of and never gigged out and has always been stored dry and smoke-free. 30-day return privilege if it doesn’t meet your standards. The alder body is one reason for the tremendous focus of this bass. Combined with the original single-coil bar pickups in tandem (not a P/bar setup like on later models) it’s easy to conjure up almost any tone out of this bass! And all you need are a volume & tone control and the 3-way pickup switch. Did I mention the bass is passive? Part of the magic of Leo Fender. The maple neck is in superb shape with virtually no fret wear. All the hardware is crinkle black including the control plate, bridge base and neck plate. There’s a hint of wear and oxidation around the control plate but that’s about it. The pots date the 6th week of 1983, the neck is stamped ‘6 9 83’ and the body is stamped ‘May xx 1983’ with the actual date obscured by the black finish. It weighs just 9 1/4 lbs and include the original hard case. The center brace was installed too low at the factory so it was moved on one side. But there is no doubt it’s an SB series case albeit with a slightly less plush interior than my other SB, El Toro and Interceptor cases. 30-day return privilege if you don’t agree or I’ll just ship it in a nice gig bag and refund 50 bucks to you. I’m aware that most of these were produced with maple bodies but the person I got this from quite a few decades ago insisted it was alder and it looked like alder when I had the neck off. I’m going to open it up again to check the grain characteristics and I’ll correct the listing if the body is indeed maple.
