Neil Young “Comes A Time” Original 1978 U.S. First Edition 33-1/3 RPM 12” Vinyl LP w/ Crazy Horse and Nicolette Larson! No Reserve! DESCRIPTION Neil Young – “Comes A Time” Reprise Records MSK 2266 (Stereo) from 1978. Hard to find Original U.S. First Edition Vinyl Folk / Country / Singer Songwriter / Rock album from Neil Young with Crazy Horse featuring Ralph Molina, Frank Sampedro and Billy Talbot on two songs plus Nicolette Larson, Ben Keith, Tim Drummond, Spooner Oldham, Rufus Thibodeaux, Joe Osborne, J.J. Cale, Larrie Londin, Carl Himmel, Farrel Morris, Grant Boatright, Bucky Barnet, Jerry Shook and a bunch more. In the Original Matte Finish Cover with NO Cutouts, promo markings or Barcode. My understanding is that this is a 1978 Winchester repressing of the Original U.S. First Edition of the same year. On this variation of the LP, the back cover lists “Lotta Love” as song A5 while the label lists it as song A4 and it actually plays as A4. It is on the Tan Reprise “Steamboat” labels with the Warner “W” Bubble Logo in the print around the rim, “(RE-3)” under “Side 1” and Runout Vinyl / Matrix markings that read: Matrix / Runout (Side A, Etched): MSK-1-2266 RE3-WW2 –◁ Matrix / Runout (Side B, Etched): MSK-2-2266-RE3-WW1 CONDITION The Sleeve is in good shape. There is some fairly slight shelf wear – mostly just slight dirtiness on the light cover – and corner softening/wear. There is a little black ink dot in the upper left corner. There is a touch of “age spotting” along the opening edge. Still very solid with no splits, stains, tears, cutouts, writing, etc. and would rate VG. The Vinyl is in clean Glossy condition looking lightly played. If you look closely you can spot a few light scuffs and hairlines – no actual scratches i.e. something you can feel with a fingernail – but still fairly close to New condition. VG+ visually overall and plays VG+ or better but with a bit of groove noise and random soft tics, nothing that distracts and might be improved with a better cleaning than I can give with my Discwasher brush. There is a tiny pressing flaw in the middle of side 2, song 3 that causes 3-4 louder tics. The Labels are Near Mint. If I provide Play Grades it is done as a courtesy but I only guarantee the Visual Grade. If you are not familiar with this grading system (or even if you think you are!), please check it out before bidding. I have summarized the important (i.e. I think everyone knows what Mint means) points below in Goldmine’s words: Very Good Plus (VG+): Record surfaces may show some slight signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don’t affect one’s listening experience. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are OK. Very Good (VG): Surface noise will be evident upon playing,… Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as will light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound. I stand by my grades but would like us to be on the same page so no problems arise. I have been selling Vintage Vinyl for over twenty years on the net and I can count the returns I’ve had on one hand so I believe my grading is fair and accurate. One important note, I try to grade to these Goldmine guides as best as I can understand and apply them. This gives us both a written standard to go by rather than having to guess. But…. it also means that I don’t issue refunds over differences of opinion in grading i.e. “That’s not MY idea of a VG record!” – I don’t know what your standards are and, as such, can’t grade to them. I guarantee that items I sell will meet my description, nothing more or less!
